Part III (Finally throgh Denmark!)
English version
Bike trip Pt.1: Iceland - done
After 3 weeks on the road and in the Highlands by bike with my friend Matthias, we finished the journey today in Seydisfjordor.
As I already mentioned, Matthias started in the mid of May in Bremen (GER) by bike, traveled over Denmark, the south of Iceland to Reykjavik, where he picked up me in my flat. On the way, he met Oskar. Another bike traveler from Germany. He joined us for a while, and we met each other from time to time in Iceland.
Matthias and I started at the 02.06. In Reykjavík. The first storm hit us already in Mosfellsbær, where we spent night nb one. Almost every day was predominantly wind from the opposite direction. This made the way up into the Highlands and north of Iceland not a pleasant ride. The main spots of our tour had been: Reykjavik - Mosfellsbær - road 52 - road 1 to Laugarbakki - Blönduós - the road 35 (entered from north) in direction Hveravellir - Varmalið - Akureyri - Grenivík - Myvatn - Grimstaðir - Kópasker - Raufahofn - Langanes with Skálar - Þorshöfn - Vopnafjörður - Möðrudalur -901, 907, passing by Búrfell over nameless unsupported road to 910 (very uncomfortable. part)- Egilstaðir - Seydisfjordor.
In sum, this had been 1450 km in 22 day's. Now we'll go by ferry from Seydisfjordor to the Faroe Islands to stay there for 2 days. I will continue my trip home by bike on the 01.07 from Hirtshals in Denmark.
See you around and have a good day (:
Well, I proved it, a bike with an aluminium frame and 1" wide wheels can be ride in Iceland and the Icelandic Highlands (;.
